Commentary on final SB62 negotiations and tensions over financing for adaptation (Climate Home News)

The 2025 UN Climate Change talks in Bonn (UNFCCC SB62) concluded at the end of last week after heated, late-hour negotiations on the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA). The core of the disagreements related to finance, including 'means of implementation' indicators and the GGA's post-COP30 implementation roadmap.

Though developing countries (G77 and China) united to present a compromise, developed countries delayed agreement, necessitating the SB chairs' intervention for resolution at Head of Delegation level. Despite the last-minute consensus, the strong resistance shown by developed countries around tracking finance support sends a concerning signal to developing countries.
